The McGill University Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical). The professorial rank will be determined according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a three-year (renewable) appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.\n\nThe successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice, specializing in spine surgery, at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (The Neuro), within the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). The MUHC is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.\n\nThe McGill University Health Centre includes major McGill University-affiliated teaching hospitals at several sites in downtown Montreal. Neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroradiologists, and interventional neuroradiologists provide tertiary in-patient and out-patient care, engage in a wide range of clinical and basic neuroscience research, and lead strong clinical neuroscience teaching programs in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine at the Montreal Neurological Hospital and Institute, the Montreal General Hospital, and McGill University.\n\nThe Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery is affiliated with McGill, Canada’s most international university, which is located in vibrant, multicultural Montreal, in the francophone province of Quebec. In that context, the Institute highly encourages its researchers to work under these principles.\n\nJob Duties\nThe successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a strong clinical and research program, and be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., teaching, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). The incumbent will also be expected to provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to residents and medical students, and to pursue scholarly activities in advancing clinical care and/or clinical research in the area of spine neurosurgery.\n\nProtected research time and laboratory resources within the Montreal Neurological Institute will be available to candidates with exceptional research potential.\n\nMcGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
